Bird of Prey Update

Mel is a male American Kestrel that came to Boyd Hill this past Spring. He has a permanent wing injury with an unknown cause and his age is unknown as well. He has been a quick learner when it comes to training and do not let his petite frame fool you because he can eat!

Brave is an Eastern Screech Owl that arrived at Boyd Hill this past summer at an age of approximately three months old. Brave is an imprinted bird, meaning it does not know what it means to be a wild owl since it was around humans from a very young age. It is unknown why Brave was originally taken in by humans but it is a very curious and brave little owl.

Red is an Eastern Screech Owl that arrived with Brave and is also an imprinted bird. Red is a little over a year old and was surrendered by someone who did not have proper permitting. Red is not as outgoing as Brave but still works well with people.
